KidHub strives to provide a safe, healthy and positive, atmosphere that caters to a child’s needs and interests. Through a number of positive behaviour strategies, we try our best to work with each individual student to help them achieve success in the program. However, KidHub has a zero tolerance policy for physically and verbally aggressive behaviour and/or negative behaviour that put children, staff, or the environment in danger.
After two attempts have been made by staff (one verbal and one feedback report to address and resolve the behaviour the child may be displaying that puts themselves, others, or the environment at risk, their first flag will be issued from our three-flag protocol:
<aside> 🟡 Yellow Flag: Receiving a yellow flag means the child will be immediately sent home for the remainder of the day as per our zero-tolerance policy for physical aggression and/or harassment. The director will contact parents/guardians to work together on a behaviour support plan together for the child to work on when coming back to the program. The Program Director and Parents/Guardians will also come to an agreement on a period of time the child has to work on the program (Up to a max of three weeks, depending on the circumstance). Should the behaviour not improve after the allotted time, an orange flag will be issued. KidHub also reserves the right to give an orange flag before the allotted time is completed if the child displays behaviour that puts themselves, others, or the environment in danger.

<aside> 🟠 Orange Flag: Receiving an orange flag means the child will be suspended for one calendar week at the expense of the client. Parents will be asked to continue working with their child on developing positive behaviours at home. During this break period, the director and parents/guardians will make modifications to the plan as needed before the child returns to the program for an additional chance to develop more positive behaviour according to their plan. A certain allotted time will be agreed upon by the director and parents/guardians for the child to work on this plan (up to a max of two weeks, depending on the circumstance), but should the behaviour not improve after the allotted time, a red flag will be issued. KidHub also reserves the right to give a red flag before the allotted time is completed if the child displays behaviour that puts themselves, others, or the environment in danger.

<aside> 🔴 Red Flag: Receiving a red flag means the child’s care at the program will be terminated. KidHub reserves the right to take appropriate measures of terminating the child's care in order to maintain safety and positivity within the program. We sincerely hope that no such extreme circumstance shall ever present itself but in the event that it does we must keep the safety & well-being of the other children and the staff of KidHub in mind.

<aside> 🟢 Green Flag: Should improvements be made in the agreed upon timeframe between director and parents/guardians, KidHub will eliminate the yellow and/or orange flag from the child’s records. We wish to promote and celebrate positive behaviour and success in the program and choose to provide recognition for those who work hard to develop positive and healthy behaviour and self-regulation strategies.
