This guide introduces parents and staff to our KidHub HEROES initiative, designed to foster leadership, teamwork, and personal growth through positive and engaging activities.
KidHub HEROES is dedicated to building leadership skills and encouraging positive interactions among children. Our program is based on six core principles:
E - Empathy R - Respect O - Open Minds and Ears E - Etiquette S - Safe Play
Our mission is to create a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and lead together.
At the start of each program cycle (School Year or Summer Camp), children are organized into HEROES groups . These groups will:
Create a Group Identity: Each group designs a unique flag and chooses a creative name, which will be displayed on the KidHub HEROES board. This flag symbolizes their shared goals and team spirit.
Celebrate Achievements: The KidHub HEROES board features:
Earn Rewards Collaboratively: Groups earn HEROES Pom Points (miniature pom-poms) for their prize jar as they make progress. These Pom Points contribute to their progress on the prize meter, unlocking various levels of exciting rewards.
When a group reaches a reward level, they earn the prize, and the entire centre celebrates their success. If the same group reaches a reward level twice in a row, they have the special honour of selecting another group to choose the next prize, promoting a spirit of support and community.
Points are also awarded when groups or individual members show exceptional support for others, enhancing the collaborative and supportive environment.
Weekly Group Meetings: Every Monday, we will meet for approximately 15 minutes, after snack and before the planned activity. These meetings focus on leadership, teamwork, and goal-setting, providing a chance for reflection and skill-building, all guided by a staff member.

Note: Once awarded, points are a lasting acknowledgment of teamwork and leadership, remaining with the group as a testament to their achievements - children cannot lose the points that they rightfully earned.

As centres progress on their HEROES Rewards Jars, they unlock various reward levels, with choices that celebrate and inspire collective accomplishments:

Important Note: The KidHub HEROES initiative is designed to foster collaboration, support, and community rather than competition. The emphasis is on working together towards common goals, celebrating success, and uplifting each other. This collaborative approach ensures that every child contributes to and benefits from the group’s achievements, creating a positive environment.

The Leader of the Week program celebrates students who demonstrate kindness, caring, and a commitment to our KidHub HEROES values: Helping Hands, Empathy, Respect, Open Minds and Ears, Etiquette, and Safe Play. Each week, selected leaders will take on a meaningful role, paired with a younger “buddy” to support them in achieving their leadership goal.
