Purpose
To outline KidHub’s procedures in the unlikely even that a child goes missing.
Policy
KidHub is committed to the health and safety of all children that attend and has implemented measures to prevent a child from going missing. These measures include:
- Digital sign-in/out system to track all currently signed-in children
- Taking regular roll calls
- Keeping all children in sight at all times
- Performing frequent head counts
- Frequent staff-to-staff communication, especially during transition periods
- Surprise visits from KidHub Management to ensure staff know current head count and knowledge of where each child is located.
Procedure
In the unlikely event that a child goes missing while under the care of KidHub, staff will remain calm and take the following steps:
- Keep the remaining children together in a safe place.
- Notify the Director and conduct a brief search of the immediate area.
- If the child has not been located within a short period of time, local Police services will be contacted for assistance in locating the child.
- Notify the parents and inform them of the steps that are being taken to locate their child.
